Stefano Bottoni (organiser)

Stefano Bottoni, PhD, is a historian, senior research fellow at the Institute of History, Research Centre for the Humanities, Hungarian Academy of Sciences. His research interests include political and social history of Communist and post-Communist Eastern Europe, with a focus on Hungary and Romania. He has carried out field research on the nationality policy in Transylvania and, more recently, on the internal structure and social function of Communist secret police in a comparative perspective. Latest publications include a general history of contemporary Eastern Europe, and several studies on the Romanian communist regime and its secret services, e.g. in Eastern European Politics and Societies (2010). His list of publications includes about 90 titles, among them 4 monographs and two co-edited books, the latest one is on the social history of the Hungarian Autonomous Region in Romania during the 1950s is forthcoming in English.
